Hüttcross is a volunteer-run cycling club in the Hutt Valley, New Zealand. I have been on the committee for the last two years and in that time, our Hüttcross races have grown to about 250 competitors at every race.
I manage the website for the club. The previous website was coded in HTML and couldn’t be edited in a GUI. To future-proof the website (as not everyone speaks code!), I re-designed the website in WordPress using a plugin called Elementor for easy drag-and-drop editing.
My key focus for the website was to make it easy for users to find the information they needed, and to register for our races. Call out buttons at the top direct people to the most important information on the page. A header banner announces the next race date and location.
In May and June 2019 (during the peak of the race series), the Hüttcross website had more than 1,200 visitors per month.
